Those of you that know this SoccerAM term, will hopefully agree that it is fitting to use for this last game.
The end result being a combined goal fest of 11 goals and a game of ups and downs.
A good disciplined and constructive start by the Vikings, marked out our intentions with early goals from Noah and Guy with well assisted team play from Jamie and Noah. This lead unfortunately was short lived, with conceding 2 soft goals due to poor goalkeeping and lack of reaction to a still ball in front of goal. Reaction and clearance something we will practice in this week’s training.
2 further goals down in the 2nd, witnessed our lack of commitment and a drop of confidence as if shell shocked that a team could in fact do this to us. Well they can in this section and it could have been worse, but for a final strong clearance by Charlie in goal. Thankfully, we stayed in touch before half time with a goal from Michael.
3rd quarter stared well with a 2nd goal from Noah to equalise the game and a slow build in showing our true ability starting to shine through. The last 2 minutes team talk from the coaching team was direct and descriptive after yet again conceding another goal before the end of the 3rd. To ensure this ability is consistent, the team needs all players to work hard in the position they are playing, show what they have learnt and more importantly show the right attitude and commitment to do their best.
The 4th qtr, finally ended as we had begun, with effort and discipline being demonstrated across the pitch. Some fine breaks up the wings and in midfield finally helped the team take the advantage in the game, with Noah achieving his hat-trick and a deciding low and powerful shot into the bottom right from Charlie to get the winner.
Lessons learnt need to be in how to react quickly in the danger area in front of goal and that heavy clearances up the pitch can be constructive at such times. To add pressure or get close to an attacker in any part of the pitch during defending and feel that putting the ball out to the line is not a bad decision. Distribution of the ball out faster from midfield to create attacking options and not get caught in possession.
For determination and will to win, 100%.
