Binfield Ladies pre season concluded on Sunday with a 5-2 win over Westwood Wanderers at the Madejski Stadium artificial pitch.
The Ladies have been made to work hard during pre season and have seen some great results on and off the pitch with two wins and a defeat from the three games.
Ruth Bowerman has been on form scoring five goals in two games including a hat trick on Sunday, but the break out player this pre season has surely been Kiah Owen who moved up from the under 18s in the summer.
Kiah captained Steve Rushin’s side in the Thames Valley Women’s Football League under 18s division last season, as well as a cup final appearance and has shown no fear in mixing it with the adult team.
Her pace and fitness, as well as a handy left foot has been a real bonus to the side this summer and she’s been welcomed in to the group.
A number of the under 18 side have trained with us over the summer and we’re looking forward to giving a few of them experience of senior football this coming season.
At the time of writing we are still waiting for the coming seasons fixtures to be released but we were given the brilliant news last week that we’ll be playing our home games on the fantastic, and brand new artificial surface at King’s Academy and we’d very much like to thank the club for sorting this out.
We’re very pleased to have a couple of new sponsors on board to complement our home shirt sponsor Honey B Beauty Bar. They are Hi-Res Security and Beaconsfield Childcare.
Pre season results:
Wantage Town 1-2 Binfield (Ariesha Stephenson-Lewis, Nicky Edwards)
Binfield 2-3 Down Grange (Ruth Bowerman (2))
Westwood Wanderers 2-5 Binfield (Ruth Bowerman (3) Amy Martin (2))
Since this article was written for Binfield's FA Cup Preliminary Round tie on Saturday, the Thames Valley Counties Women's Football League have confirmed the league will now kick off on 9th September, meaning their will likely be another pre season fixture on the 2nd.
