Binfield 3- 1 Reeves Rangers Blue – 10th Nov 07 - League |
Another fine morning and a reduced Binfield squad of 13. Binfield took the field in confident mood, but the lads seem to always insist on an early scare or two as the determined Reeves attack showed they were not to be taken lightly. Binfield soon got into gear and began their persistent attacking, soon creating an opportunity for Lordy, who duly converted to open the scoring, (again).
Daniel showed his class in midfield and added a second with a great shot, too good for the impressive Reeves keeper. Reeves got a goal back when a defensive mix up saw Matthew diving for a through ball, kicked out of his hands and tapped in by the quick Reeves attack. Half Time 2-1
With the wind behind them in the second half, Binfield attacked relentlessly and eventually scored again with Lordy crossing inch-perfectly for Jacob to guide the ball into the net with a skilful, measured volley. Reeves rarely threatened the Binfield goal as the match entered the last quarter, in fact they rarely got out of their half. Binfield had a hatful of chances and more should have been converted, credit to Reeves defence and goalkeeper for a stout effort.
Man of the Match: Lordy is one of those players who always gives 110%, and this week was no exception. As well as scoring important goals of professional quality, he never gives up on anything; he hassles and pressurises, winning the ball or forcing the opposition to make mistakes and he keeps this up all through the game - even when the match is won! When he’s not scoring he works hard to create chances for others with some excellent passing and crosses, as in our 3rd goal. He’s been in the running for MotM every week he’s played and is well deserved of the title this week.
Team: Ben F, Ross, Daniel, Ben W, Michael, Lewis, Oliver, Alex, Matthew, TC, Lordy, Mark and Jacob.
