Sandhurst Jaguars 1 - 8 Binfield FC |
|||
| Top of the table Sandhurst were a bit of an unknown quantity promoted from division 3, but their record going into the game was impressive, 4 wins 23 goals, 3 clean sheets. We knew they would be a quality side, unfortunately for them, they had the bare 11 players and this would tell as the game went on. | |||
|
The game commenced with the usual early exchanges as each team tested the other, Sandhurst soon proved their skill at breaking directly through the centre towards goal and also good wing play and crossing, all dealt with by the Binfield defence. Binfield didn’t hesitate in taking the game to Sandhurst either, with some good probing leading to Jacob released on the right and shooting powerfully from a tight angle to ricochet in the net off of the diving goalkeeper. We’ve seen how deadly Jacob can be from tight angles before. With the deadlock broken and tails up, Binfield went about the game with more confidence and further attacks leading to another score as another powerful shot from Jacob rebounded into the deadly path of Lordy. Nice finish 2-0. Rather than discouraging Sandhurst, they finished the half in great attacking spirit with an uncleared cross falling to a Sandhurst boot for a good and well-deserved finish. Half Time 2-1 |

With the result by no means certain Robert took over the gloves and was in goal for the second half, Matthew taking over his outfield position of right back, and showing his skill undiminished by playing in goal. |
|||
| Sandhurst
started in the same spirit as they finished the first half, but TC
showed the way to goal with a great solo effort from left-back,
racing up the field to finish with a drive into the top corner,
shortly followed by Jacob’s dribble and shot for his second goal.
Now the Sandhurst lack of substitutes and key players really started to tell as they began to tire. Mark soon joined in the scoring with a great chest control and volley into the top corner, and then a powerful deflected free kick giving the goalie no chance. |

Lordy finished the scoring with a great finish into the bottom corner and again into the top left to round off his hat-trick. The second of the season against top of the table teams! It was a great all-round performance from the team, solid defending, tight and creative midfield play, many chances created and plenty taken. We don't get many big wins so it was nice to help the goal difference up a bit this week. Man of the Match: This week TC caught my eye with 110 percent in every position he’s asked to play in, great attitude, skills and making the best of our possession with quality delivery to his team mate. Excellent every week. |

| The only photo I could get of Daniel was his back as he raced past me! | |||
| I think the half time score is a more accurate summary of the game and we will certainly treat Sandhurst with the respect they deserve on the return fixture. Thanks go to their very sporting parents and coaches. | |||
