Ginga Futebol Clube 2 – 5 Binfield– 1st Dec 07 - League |
The pitch is always the same for both teams, and lot of heavy overnight rain meant this pitch was very wet with some standing water hindering the skills of all players. The pitch was an unusual combination of narrow but long with slightly smaller goals.
The usual early exchanges showed that Ginga knew how to play and were very positive, but early on Mark attacking from midfield fired in the opener for Binfield. Ginga worked hard and wasted no time, soon getting an equaliser with a great run down the Binfield right and good low shot across the keeper creeping in the corner. The game continued with some good football from both sides, Binfield creating some great chances but failing to convert. With half time approaching Jacob burst through to latch on to a good through ball and coolly finished to put Binfield 2-1 up.
The second half started in much the same way with both teams playing a good passing game and showing some refined skill, with Binfield definitely showing more attacking penetration and flair. Jacob soon made the difference and shot home his second for 3-1, and more pressure lead to Nathan finishing with a nicely placed shot for 4-1. The scoring was rounded off, for Binfield, by Daniel; working in from the right wing, to score a well-earned goal for 5-1.
Ginga also had a good amount of the game and continued to threaten, incisive play causing a bit of panic in the Binfield defence from time to time, and as Binfield took their foot off the gas a bit, Ginga crept in to shoot powerfully and score at the near post for a deserved second consolation goal.
There was a lot of hard work put in to win the game, but please remember, it doesn’t take much easing up on effort and commitment to let the opposition score. Both the Ginga goals could have been prevented with more concentration. On another day it could mean the difference between winning and losing!
Man of the Match: This week Daniel gets the accolade, Ginga were strong on our right – until Daniel occupied the right-wing position. He completely dominated that side of the pitch, closing down and breaking down opposition play, winning the ball and then using it to great effect setting up attacks and bringing other players into the game, his skills shining through despite the conditions. He also was happy to take players on and lead the attack himself, one such foray leading to his well-deserved goal. A great example to everyone of the attitude needed to reach your full potential as a footballer. Well done Daniel.
There was a lot of really good football played despite the poor pitch and in the end the game was comfortably won. Well played lads, a great team effort – everyone played their part.
