Match Report 29th Sept 07

 FC Bracknell 1 - 1 Binfield FC

We didn’t have a very good record against FC Bracknell last season, but with two good results under our belts this season the boys went out with a confident expectation of doing better this time.  FC Bracknell had obviously seen our results and opted for the smaller of the pitches available to make defending easier.

The game started evenly with both sides probing, but good defences mopping up, then FCB got a good break going down our left, launched in an excellent cross that was met with an equally good header that gave Matthew no chance.  No complaints; 1-0 to the home.

Undeterred Binfield continued to probe and created the better of the chances; TC only beaten by the post and volleying just over, as we started to really test their defences.  FCB were steadfast, well organised with some big players clearing well and continuing to test our own back line with skilful inter-play, but you would have to say Matthew had a very quiet game compared to the Finch match.

The second half continued in much the same vein, but with Binfield getting the better of the chances, with shots and runs getting close to the FCB goal.  The breakthrough came when Jacob pounced on a rebound and powerfully finished to level the scores.

Revitalised Binfield pressed on for the winner, but in vain.  A good game played in great spirit a draw seemed fair, but Binfield know they should have won.  Again the result comes down to taking your chances and hitting the target.

Well done lads, especially Ross who shone on his debut, particularly in the second-half on the right wing.

Man of the Match: Alexander gets the accolade this week with great work in both halves, sure at the back and bringing the ball out well to help with the attacks.  Well done.

A good team effort when you consider the last time we played FCB we lost 6-1 with more or less the same players.
