Binfield 5 Ascot 1 - Reading Senior Cup, aet
Moles move into the semifinal
Binfield moved into the semifinal of the Reading Senior Cup, winning the game 5-1 after extra time, after being a goal down early in the second half.
Ascot, under new management, were lively in the first half and moved the ball around well and had the ball in the next within the first five minutes, but the player was clearly offside.
For the first 15 minutes of the game, the match was a bit of a midfield slog but on 20 minutes, Grant Kemp played a ball to Liam Ferdinand on the right hand side of the penalty area, only for Liam to put the ball past the post. Liam followed that up with another shot shortly afterwards but again missed the target.
Ascot were never out of the game and early in the second half, they put a ball down the middle that wasn't dealt with well and the ball fell between defender and keeper, and was dutifully tucked away.
Binfield went at Ascot from the kick off and from a corner, Grant Kemp beat Matt Hill in the Ascot goal. Kemp hit the post with a snap shot before being substituted with fresh legs in the shape of Mo Davies, who's sharp running caused problems.
The game went into extra time, and Liam Whyte and Sean Moore were introduced and Binfield upped the pace and Liam Ferdinand and Harrison Bayley made it 3-1, before Liam did it again swiftly followed by Mo Davies sticking the ball in the net to see the Moles reach the semi-final 5-1 winners
