November 2005 the club achieved the status of a Football
Association Charter Standard Club.
This has taken hours of preparation by committee member
Nigel Carpenter who has diligently ensured that every aspect
of being a Charter Standard club was met and will be upheld.
What Does this Mean?
Being an FA Charter Standard Club means that the club has
met a series of checks and measures that will ensure that
young footballers playing for Binfield FC are treated and
cared for in the best possible way, upholding a set of
standards laid down by the football association.
The checks and measures provide parents with the comfort
that managers and coaches have been trained in the best way
to handle junior football, that those helpers have been CRB
checked and that basic first aid training is also in place.
As part of their course, managers have also been briefed on
the spirit in which the FA expects the junior game to be
played and this includes the standard of behaviour expected
from parents and other spectators at junior matches in which
Binfield FC is involved.
At Binfield there won't be a sudden change of attitude or
routine as a result of this award because in some ways the
award is retrospective. The FA have seen that we are already
adhering to the values required of an FA Charter Status Club
and that is why we have achieved this status.
Nigel is to be congratulated on his part in helping the club
achieve this. There are some other clubs in the area with
this status but generally they are smaller clubs with fewer
teams. Nigel's task has been huge, so a big thank you to him
from everyone at the club.
